What services are available?

Dr. Pollard provides well woman visits and birth control services to women of all ages. She also offers diagnosis and treatment for women with various health concerns, including pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, suspicious of menopause, pain during intercourse, and any other gynecological symptoms.

How often are checkups necessary?

Women who are 21 or older should have a checkup with Dr. Pollard once each year to assess general health and look for hidden problems. Women who are under the age of 21 but are sexually active or have concerns about their reproductive health should also schedule annual checkups at Above Parr Women’s Center.

What happens during a checkup?

During a checkup, Dr. Pollard evaluates the patient’s general health by analyzing vital signs, palpating the reproductive organs, and collecting information from the patient. Depending on the patient’s characteristics, Dr. Pollard may also perform a pap smear to check for cervical cancer and/or screen the patient for breast cancer.

If the patient is interested in birth control, Dr. Pollard will present the patient’s options and help her decide on the best method. In addition, patients who are already on birth control may discuss their response to the current treatment during checkups.

When should patients schedule an appointment with Dr. Pollard?

Patients should schedule an appointment to see Dr. Pollard any time they have troubling symptoms, such as:

  • Periods that are too long or too short
  • Heavy bleeding

  • Blisters or rashes on the genitals

What treatments are available for gynecological concerns?

Many different treatments are available to patients with gynecological problems. For example, patients who have been diagnosed with an STD may need antibiotics or other medications. Patients who have abnormal bleeding or pain may need hormone therapy or a surgical treatment, such as endometrial ablation. After reviewing a patient’s condition and confirming the diagnosis, Dr. Angela Pollard will help the patient determine which course of treatment is best.
